Our comprehensive life cycle assessments (LCAs) show that enzymes in many cases can reduce energy and water consumption, increase the efficiency of certain raw materials and thereby reduce raw material costs.
As a result of their catalytic function, small quantities of enzymes can often replace large quantities of chemicals, energy, and water. Examples of immediate benefits of enzyme application are:

Novozymes case: Reducing processing costs in the textile industry

Increasing consumer demands for sustainable processes is heightening the pressure for textile companies to be environmentally friendly. In a challenging financial climate the textile industry has had to really search for cost saving solutions. Bioblasting is a garment finishing-process used in the textile industry. With Novozymes’ application that enables textiles to be bioblasted and dyed simultaneously in the dyeing bath, substantial costs savings can be realized. This is shown in the chart below comparing a conventional process of bioblasting with an enzyme-assisted process, showing substantial savings when applying Novozymes Cellusoft®, CR.
